Visitors will have the opportunity to experience delicious gourmet food and quality local beer and wine from the Alpine Valleys region in a magnificent snowy setting.

Advance Pet Food Sled Dog Challenge
13th - 14th August 2011
Dinner Plain is the only Australian Alpine Village where sled dogs are allowed to race - only during a particular weekend under strict permit conditions. Spectators are most welcome, but it is stressed that dogs not competing be left at home.
Celebrating more than 15 years of successful sled dog racing, this race is held over the weekend of 8 & 9 August 2008 with 2, 3, 4 and 6 dog teams competing. This annual event showcases the top dogs of sled dog racing in Australia and is unique because it is the only Australian snow-based race of its kind.
Over 65 Mushers (dog team drivers) and more than 350 sled dogs are expected to compete in this year's event. The race is held over two days with times recorded on both days. The team who completes the course both days in the fastest time wins.
Spectators attending the weekend are in for a unique experience. They will see and hear plenty of enthusiastic sled teams with howling and excited snow-dogs. There will be many spectators and media jostling for the best vantage points.
During this weekend the spectators would be treated to freight sled pulling demonstrations, snow ball throwing and snowman building competition for the kids, BBQ, souvenir stands, pumped competitors, presentation and celebration. This all contributes to a colourful and electric atmosphere.
Race Start times:
Saturday 9.00am to 1.30pm - followed by lunch
Sunday 9.00am to 12.30pm - followed by awards
